Pakistan can introduce and implement China’s Hope Primary School model to enhance education system in remote and poverty-stricken or underprivileged rural areas. In China, the hope primary schools operate through a comprehensive mechanism that ensures sustainability, transparency, and quality. Experts believe that the underdevelopment of education must be urgently addressed to achieve rapid and stable development and increase quality of life of the whole population.
For these schools, fundraising is a crucial aspect with funds coming from social donations, enterprises, and public activities. All these schools are planned and constructed in areas with limited resources. After completion, the Hope Primary Schools are supervised by qualified enterprises and youth development foundations to ensure quality and adherence to standards. Teacher allocation is a combination of uniform allocation by local education departments and supplementation by volunteer teachers, who bring new teaching concepts and methods.
Finally, the daily operation and management of the schools are handled by local education departments, following the national education syllabus and financial management guidelines. China’s Consul General Zhao Shiren is more focusing on strengthening relations with Pakistan through collaborations with various educational institutions. Cao Ke says Consulate General encourages and supports business enterprises and Chinese nationals in upholding traditions of cooperation
China’s efforts aim to nurture a generation of knowledgeable and responsible citizens, empowering them to make meaningful contributions in the society. After the 2022 floods and massive destruction in Dera Ghazi Khan, Javed Iqbal and his associates initiated an informal education program, providing learning opportunities for approximately 130 underprivileged children in an open-air setting in Chah Darkhan. For the past two years, this grassroot level concept is a beacon of hope for young learners. Despite lacking classrooms, furniture, uniforms or books, Javed Iqbal and his team of volunteers have remained committed to offering free education in the area.
China’s Consulate in Lahore, the Panda Industries Association, and the Chinese International Academy have joined hands to integrate these children into the formal education system. Through shared social responsibility and collaboration, these organizations are actively working to remove educational barriers by providing infrastructure, learning materials and teacher support. They draw inspiration from China’s education system and the Hope Primary School, as both initiatives uplifted education in underserved areas.
China’s Deputy Consul General Cao Ke recently participated a ceremony in which Panda Industries Association and Chinese International Academy donated a school building for the children of Chah Darkhan. Panda Industries Association President Chen Yan, Chinese International Academy Vice Principal He Yubing, Lahore Overseas Chinese Association President Luo Jianxue, Chinese Enterprise Association President Tan Zidong, Challenge Group CEO Karen Chen, Hope Primary School focal person Saad Yasin, principal Javed Iqbal, and other members of the society also joined the event.
During his speech, Cao Ke emphasized the social responsibilities of Chinese enterprises and their community, and said that the Consulate General encourages and supports business enterprises and Chinese nationals in upholding traditions of cooperation. He reaffirmed commitments to expanding educational initiatives in Dera Ghazi Khan, including constructing additional school buildings and reintegrating out-of-school children into the education system – efforts that will ultimately foster economic growth and development.
Javed Iqbal, principal of the Hope Primary School, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Chinese Consulate, Panda Industries Association and Chinese International Academy for their generosity, and highlighted challenges of teaching children without proper facilities and welcomed the much-needed support. He said that he would continue his efforts to spread education in the underprivileged area of the Punjab province.
