China’s State Council Information Office (SCIO) arranged a twelve-day exclusive visit of journalists and writers from Pakistan to China’s different cities. Senior officials warmly welcomed the 16-member delegation in Beijing upon arrival in mid of June.
After introduction, the delegation started tour to the Hunaneng Clean Energy Research Institute (CERI), where its leadership briefed them on cutting-edge technologies, including gas emission reduction, hydrogen laboratory advancements, and photovoltaic research and development and testing. The leadership emphasized the importance of long-lasting friendships between Pakistan and China.
The leadership highlighted a promise to collaborate on projects like the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), focusing on sustainability and societal benefits. He mentioned Huaneng Group’s operation of the Sahiwal coal power plant in Pakistan and expressed the hope for enhanced mutual cooperation, citing 500 researchers working on various projects. He stressed the need for cooperation to achieve high-level green goals.
During the visit, the China International Communication Group (CICG) hosted a ceremony to honor the Pakistani delegation. The group leadership welcomed the delegation and facilitated a meet-and-greet session where delegates introduced themselves and shared their experiences about the visit. The senior officials presented books – Xi Jinping: On Respecting and Protecting Human Rights – to the delegates and hosted a dinner in their honor.
On the occasion, the delegation members stated that China was willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation on human rights with all parties on the basis of equality and mutual respect, learn from each other, make progress together, and contribute to the international human rights cause. In this book, they elaborated on how important discourses on respecting and safeguarding human rights has been integrated into the political practice of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
The delegation also visited the site of the most visited section of the Great Wall of China, approximately 80 kilometers northwest of Beijing’s city center, in Badaling Town of Yanqing District in Beijing municipality. During the visit, they received a briefing about the Great Wall of China, learning about its history as the longest wall in the world, its ancient construction, significance as a tourist spot, and its role across multiple dynasties. The delegation climbed to the top of the Great Wall, gaining insight into its purpose and appreciating China’s historical wisdom and futuristic approach.
The delegates visited China Communications Construction Company (CCCC), a leading global infrastructure provider. Zha Changmiao, the Executive Director of the company’s Brand and Culture Department, highlighted the company’s presence in Pakistan, working on projects like Gwadar and Karachi ports, Karakoram Highway, and the Special Economic Corridor. The company seeks greater collaboration, especially for Gwadar Port, and has renewed its involvement, undertaking 10% of the work.
The State Council Information Office also organized a visit to the Central Axis Exhibition at the China Science and Technology Museum, where delegates explored ancient China’s glory and gained insights into its rich culture. The museum features four floors of exhibits, including the Glory of China Hall, Exploration and Discovery Hall, and Science Paradise Hall, as well as special-effect theaters and interactive devices.
In Beijing, the delegation members visited the BAIC Super Factory in Miyun, and toured production unit of Beijing Automotive Group Co Ltd, witnessing the core NEV manufacturing base. They were briefed on the cutting-edge features, including fully automatic production lines with over 90% robotic coverage, its recognition as a national green manufacturing demonstration unit, and an impressive production capacity of one new vehicle every 2.5 minutes and 150,000 NEVs annually. The delegates experienced BAIC’s new energy premium models, including the ARCFOX Alpha series, and praised the high-end and precision industrial project.
The delegation thoroughly enjoyed the delicious traditional Chinese cuisine, including Peking duck, jiaozi, Zhajiangmian, and Beijing-style hot pot, accompanied by fresh fruits. During their visit, they also witnessed the city’s high-rise buildings, infrastructure, and transportation advancements. In their remarks about the visit, the delegation members called their trip a great learning experience, and said that Pakistan could learn a lot of things from China – Pakistan’s trusted friend.
